Sanford, FL- November 9, 2010

What started out as an opportunity to redefine tackle football for youth in Central Florida- has turned into the ultimate opportunity for 8 Seminole County Middle School students that were recently selected to participate in a National All-star Game, sponsored by the Shriner’s Hospital – to be held December 12, 2010 at Lake Nona High School.

Blending the leadership of Tim Cooley, a seasoned  youth tackle football director and coach, advice from great parents and support of community leaders – AAU’s local entry into Youth Tackle Football has lead to an amazing Inaugural year with 200 local athletes participating- an amazing turnout – unheard of for the first year in a new league!

“I wanted the league to be a place were parents, coaches and players could come together  in a positive environment to reinforce solid football skills and at the same time, develop a league that would highlight the importance of family, education, community awareness and fair play,” says Cooley who founded the league. “We are thrilled to be chosen as a Youth Partner for the East West Shrine Bowl!”

Suzette DiMascio, CEO of Career Solutions and Seminole Shark lead sponsor stated, “We chose the following players to play on the All-star team, composed of 30 talented superstars in Youth Tackle Football across our new AAU organization in Central Florida, based on their athleticism, spirit and leadership skills. The players will have the ability to serve the Shriner’s Hospital System and the community with their fundraising efforts for the children fortunate enough to be treated by the hospitals throughout the USA”

Many of the boys playing personally have seen what the Shriner’s do for children in need, as they were classmates of Daniel Happy- the boy who suffered burns over 90% of his body a few years ago in Sanford.

Daniel was the mascot for last year’s East West Shrine Bowl- which will be played again at the Citrus Bowl on January 23, 2011.

The All-star players selected for the game from the Seminole Sharks are:

Sanford Middle – Jhonathan Maya, Collin Cooley & Cody Behrens
Millennium Middle – Blaine Morgan, Tomas Carro & Anthony Oyola
Journey’s Middle – Quaventeze Collins
Central Christian- Ethen Heard

Please contact 407-688-6727 to reserve your tickets or to donate for the event. Cost is $12 and all fundraising dollars go to the Shriner’s Hospital.
